Honestly, I’m at a loss for words. I was told growing up that I would learn something new every day, and today I did: A Concept four door Corvette not only exists, but it is for SALE right now on Craigslist! (Of course, the Wild West of online selling sites)

The unusual four-door concept was conceived in the late 1970’s to see if the general public had any interest in a four door variant of the iconic sports car. What if the American household wanted something fast, sporty, and iconic, but still had a little Bobby + Susie to load into it? Would you fold the seats forward like some sort of animal? No, of course not! So, this… attempt at art was born!

Originally, five were created by Chevrolet to test the market with. You know, take to car shows, drive around populated cities like Detroit, etc. The project was killed off incredibly quickly after people saw the price tag and well, the car itself. I mean, honestly, I can’t be the only one that dislikes this car that much! But all kidding, and stabs at this aside, lets look into it a little more:

1Z878AS444349 Listing

The car wasn’t actually built much different from a regular 1980 Chevrolet Corvette. Still powered by a 350i V8 engine @ 190HP, this car was backed by an automatic transmission. Apparently this particular model is one of two left in existence, but I have no evidence to show that three had died since 1980. The car came in a red on red setup, with a twin targa removable roof. For maximum space, you can fold the rear seats down with what appears to be a 60/40 split, which is phenomenal for the 1979 release lineup!

The car has fallen into the hands of NBS Auto Showroom in the states on consignment. The asking price is $119650 USD plus any and all admin fees. Honestly, as much as I knock this, I would buy it just to own a piece of American automotive history.
