Car Community Tracks Down Abandoned Ferrari F40 Owned By A Hussein!

A dust-covered, abandoned Ferrari F40 was just discovered in Iraq by the internet when a request was put out by Ratarossa, a YouTuber that brings some of my favorite automotive content to the web. The photo featured at the top of this post is what was sent out – and the internet ran with it. Small bloggers, social media users, and even Chris Smith of Gas Monkey Garage weighed in and contributed to finding the vehicle.

It was eventually found in the capital city of Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan. Turns out, Chris Smith had recognized the car from a sighting in 2016, where he recalls the vehicle being in pretty rough shape. Missing parts, including the vehicle’s inter-cooler immediately devaulued the vehicle. However, the owner, who is none other then the son of Saddam Hussein, the fifth president of Iraq.

After all of the dust settled (Pun intended), Uday Hussein requested $1.15 Million USD. To justify the asking price, it does only have 2,300 original miles on the clock. Surprising, given the overall condition that it’s in. However, the F40 has been abandoned for years, and we know that the car has looked like this since at least 2016, when Chris saw the vehicle last.

Unfortunately, between the asking price and the complex logistics behind importing the car to the UK or the USA, it remains in Iraq until a wealthy individual decides to take on the project. A gorgeous project, nonetheless!
